On behalf of the Society and the members of the Program Committee, we would like to welcome you to the 14th Annual International Meeting of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society in Miami Beach, Florida! We’ve designed an exciting program that focuses on clinical and research innovations within the field of pediatric cardiac critical care from a multidisciplinary perspective. Below are some highlighted themes to be presented by our esteemed, invited faculty.

  • Preconference sessions:

o   Quality improvement crash course

o   Simulation and cardiopulmonary interactions

  • Plenary Sessions

o   Advances in clinical decision-making

o   Prevention and management of cardiac arrest in children with underlying heart disease

o   Evolving thoughts regarding the impact of length of CICU stay on neurodevelopmental outcomes

o   Novel approaches to building clinician resilience and a healthy work environment

o   Exciting and interactive pro-con debates

Numerous breakout sessions will address other hot topics in our field. The closing consensus statement session will focus on education and training for CICU nurses and physicians. This year’s meeting will feature a substantial increase in original oral abstract presentations, consistent with a larger effort to enhance the footprint of PCICS in the research landscape. We look forward to seeing all of you in Miami Beach this December!
